Plasbiotic - Speculative design

DelaO, a Spain-based design studio posed a challenge of re-thinking the future in a post COVID world. Plastic was the hero that pulled us through the pandemic and people were now using it rampantly.
How would the new ritual around it be like in a world full of plastic?
How would our daily life change as plastic became part of the environment?

Plastics never degrade completely, only break down into smaller particles called microplastics. With the excess use of plastic in food packaging and water supply systems, they have begun entering our systems. In a plastic loving world, contamination of food, water and air would increase several fold and cause serious bodily harm.
The Prediction Generator is an ideation instrument developed by delaO Design Studio aimed to help designers, researchers, and future-thinkers to generate, validate, and articulate a para reality.
This speculative idea combines the benefits of plastic-digesting bacteria in a probiotic drink. Once consumed, the bacteria start disintegrating and digesting the microplastics in our gut thus reducing the risk of illness. In the future where we eat drink and breathe plastic, this would soon become a household staple.
Since it digests plastic, the probiotic is packaged in a glass bottle whose ergonomic form allows optimal space utilization for storage and transportation. The bottles were also designed keeping a product afterlife in mind. Once consumed, they can be used as building blocks for temporary structures.

The sticker tag has been designed in the form of a digestive tract cut-out. This indicates the level of the liquid inside the bottle.
